Dr. Michael, or Thanagorn Tangmetakul, graduated in veterinary medicine from Kasetsart University before spending over ten years in the massage and spa industry. He founded Michael Thai Massage School in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi, and it now counts more than 10,000 graduates working in Thailand and abroad.
The path to teaching
Dr. Michael trained in veterinary medicine at Kasetsart University — a discipline that taught him anatomy, musculature, nerves and how a body works as a system. That foundation is what makes his teaching different.
After graduating he moved into the massage and spa business: opening shops, hiring therapists, managing teams, and learning what the market actually needs — not people who memorise routines, but people who can read a client and treat the problem.
During COVID-19 the business was hit hard. Rather than give up, he turned what he had — a decade of industry experience — into a curriculum that could give other people a livelihood. That was the beginning of Michael Thai Massage School.
His goal today is not to sell certificates. It is to make sure someone who walks in with nothing walks out with a trade that supports them and their family.
How Dr. Michael teaches
Understand, do not memorise
Once you understand which muscle is tight and why, you can design the treatment yourself instead of waiting for a fixed routine.
Use body weight, not finger strength
Therapists who work from their fingers leave the profession within three years. We teach mechanics that let you work into your sixties without injury.
Safety always comes first
Knowing who you may treat, who you may not, and which points must never be pressed matters more than knowing many techniques.
Graduating means having work
We measure success by how many graduates are actually earning, not by how many finished the course.
